How BitMart’s announcements changed

On July 26, 2026, BitMart announced an orderly wind-down of operations. Then, on August 21, the company said it was working on a possible restructuring as an alternative to a full shutdown, with White & Case involved.

On September 9, BitMart announced the appointment of Alvarez & Marsal as its external financial adviser. On September 30, it published a preliminary roadmap. So the July notice cannot be read as the only source on the current situation.

BitMart restructuring: what the September 30 plan proposes

The root of the problem is the hack of BitMart in December 2021. According to the roadmap, the exchange lost digital assets worth about $319.5 million at the time (at prices as of December 4, 2021), and it has had a balance shortfall ever since. The plan offers three ways to close it:

  • Immediate payout. A pro rata distribution of available cash, stablecoins and major tokens for those who want to exit now.
  • Restitution Token. A token backed by whatever BitMart manages to recover from the funds stolen in the hack.
  • Continuum Token. A new token tradable on a DEX, backed by investments, sales of illiquid assets and possible profits if the exchange resumes operations.

Each user’s balance will be converted into US dollars at the weighted average price of their tokens from July 26, 2026 to the record date (Record Time); the amount will be reviewed by a court-appointed professional. The record date, the deadline for choosing an option and the expected recovery percentage have not been announced yet: BitMart promises a separate report with estimates.

A claim token and money in your account are not the same thing

If an option involves a new token, you need to work out separately what rights it gives, what it costs, whether it can be sold and where future income will come from. The name of the instrument does not answer these questions for you.

Which dates are set and what they do not promise

In the roadmap, October 2026 is marked as the consultation period, November as the time for adjustments, and December 2026 / January 2027 as the target period for going to court. These are the company’s own guideposts, not an announced payout date for each user.

There is no court case yet. The roadmap does not even say in which jurisdiction BitMart will seek approval of the plan: it only refers to “the relevant courts”. There is no case number and no claims register yet, so there is nowhere to file a claim for now. Watch for new official announcements and for emails to your account’s address.

What the User Engagement Portal is for

BitMart announced the launch of a feedback portal on September 16. It is meant for questions and comments about the platform’s situation. The announcement states clearly that it is not a channel for processing individual withdrawals, and that a submission does not by itself change the status of your assets.

Go to the portal through the link in the official announcement. Choose the User Engagement Portal category for this process, and confirm your email address after submitting. Keep the number of your completed request.

Use only the portal linked in BitMart’s announcement. Never share your password, 2FA codes or seed phrase with anyone: neither the portal nor the exchange’s advisers ask for them.

Keep two questions apart: the status of your withdrawal request and your comments on the overall restructuring proposal. This helps you word your message and understand what the reply you get actually refers to.

BitMart withdrawal not processed: what to keep

  • Your balance by asset and the date it was recorded.
  • The date, amount, ID and current status of your withdrawal request.
  • The transaction hash, if the platform says the transfer was sent to the network.
  • Correspondence, ticket numbers and documents for any verification requests.
  • Product terms, if the funds were in Earn, Staking or another separate service.

First, describe the events in order. When exactly did you submit the request? Were you asked for documents? What changed after you replied? If all you have is a generic “processing” status, do not add an unconfirmed reason to it.

Keep screenshots of your balance, your withdrawal request history and your correspondence with support. In its July notice, BitMart also warns about fraudulent paid “acceleration” and “unfreezing” offers. Verify independently who is contacting you and why they are asking for documents.

Questions to ask before choosing an option

  1. How will the amount of my rights be determined, and which records support it?
  2. Which rights do I keep or change by choosing an option?
  3. What are the terms, costs and limits of the future instrument?
  4. Can I change my choice, and what happens if I do not respond?
  5. Which document sets the deadline and the procedure?

These questions help you read the proposal for what it actually says. Compare not only the stated potential result, but also the source of payouts, the timing, the costs and the uncertainty. Until the final terms are published, gaps should be marked as open questions.

How Reclaim Capital can help now

While the plan is not approved, it is too early to buy BitMart claims: there is no court case and no register. But you can already prepare:

  • we will gather proof of your balance, withdrawal requests and correspondence while they are still available in your account;
  • we will help you word your comments on the plan for the consultation portal;
  • once the final terms appear, we will go through the options and their risks;
  • we will let you know when claims start being accepted.

If your withdrawal was blocked for you personally rather than for all users, that is a different situation: see our guide “Exchange account blocked: 7 steps”.

Questions and answers

Is BitMart already in Chapter 11?
No. As of October 28, 2026, BitMart has not filed in court, and there is no bankruptcy proceeding. The company plans to go to court between December 2026 and January 2027; the jurisdiction has not been named yet.
Have BitMart’s three options already been approved?
No. On September 30, a proposal with three options was published: an immediate pro rata payout, the Restitution Token and the Continuum Token. None of the options has been approved, and no recovery percentage has been given.
Does BitMart’s feedback portal speed up withdrawals?
No. The User Engagement Portal collects questions and feedback, but it does not process withdrawals or change account status.
When will BitMart return the money?
There are no exact dates and no recovery percentage. The guideposts are: consultations with users in October, plan revisions in November, and going to court between December 2026 and January 2027.
Do you buy claims against BitMart?
Not yet: there is no court case and no claims register. We help gather documents and will let you know when terms appear and claims start being accepted.
